Tabs3 Version 14:

Life Changing for Law Office Administrators

Tabs3 and PracticeMaster Version 14The long-anticipated version 14 of Tabs3 and PracticeMaster was released earlier this year. Software Technology, Inc., is a quality organization dedicated to its products, with customer service second to none. Having been a long-time user and current Certified Consultant and Re seller of Tabs3 and PracticeMaster products, I know that the recent release of Version 14 includes many exciting changes.

A Baltimore-based law firm, Brown Goldstein & Levy (BGL) (www.browngold.com), wanted to be one of the first firms to update to Version 14. BGL makes extensive use of the detailed receipt allocation and productivity reporting available in Tabs3 and was very excited about the changes that would come with the update. The conversion went smoothly thanks to Jan Mahar, BGL’s administrator, who was organized and ready to go. Immediately, she started to take advantage of the new Tabs3 features.

Jan started reviewing the new Unallocated Payments Report each week to make sure that decisions were being made on where to allocate payments. The new Timekeeper Realization Report saves her hours of time. It replaces an Excel spreadsheet that she created manually in the past, and it lists billed hours and amounts, realization rate and collection information all on one report - incredibly useful! The new Client Realization Report allows BGL to track collections more easily (especially reimbursable expenses and advances). The Timekeeper Analysis Report is a REAL benefit as it allows reporting by working timekeeper, and for Jan’s needs, by level. This lets her analyze partners, associates and paralegals differently. As a user of the Receipt Allocation Report, Jan can compare any time period she wants. This is going to prove very helpful this coming year-end as the firm will have the ability to compare 2006 to 2005 in detail. That means if a write off occurs, she can see it easily rather than having it included as part of the YTD column.

After two months of using Version 14, Jan’s month-end closing and reporting process is now much easier to perform, and she is delighted with the end result! Her final comment was that her future year-end closing will be much like a month-end as she now has the tools to monitor and analyze data on an ongoing basis.
