Tabs3 Credit Card Processing

Most Americans prefer to use credit cards to pay their daily personal and business expenses. They use them to buy office furniture, to take clients to lunch, to buy groceries, even to pay their dentist. It only makes sense that this method of payment be available from their attorney too.

You can increase revenue if you accept credit cards, because they are so convenient.  You may find clients willing to pay with a credit card on their way out of your office, and you will certainly receive credit card payments over the phone.  The easier it is to pay, the faster you get paid, the fewer collections calls you need to make, the easier it is to collect on outstanding invoices and the fewer write offs you will have.  This is especially true in a down economy, where collection risk increases.

Here is a typical collections call when a law firm can process a credit card payment:

Law Firm: “Mr. Jones, I am calling about your $1,200 outstanding invoice.”

Client: “Hmm, I don’t think I received that past due notice, can you mail me another reminder?”

Law Firm: “Certainly, I can also take your payment over the phone right now if you have a credit card.”

Other fees do apply.  We give you the ability to accept all major credit cards including Visa®, MasterCard®, Discover®, American Express®, and Diners Club®.

While accepting credit cards provides convenience to your clients, we provide a time-saving convenience to you by integrating credit card authorization directly into Tabs3. This integration will save you time and will reduce the potential for errors because all payment transactions can be entered and reported in one location – Tabs3.  You won’t need to reenter credit card payments that you process some other way.

To authorize a credit card payment, you need to have a merchant account - a bank account that enables your firm to receive cash from credit card transactions. We are working with First National Merchant Solutions® (FNMS), a subsidiary of First National Bank of Omaha, to bring merchant accounts directly into Tabs3. They have also agreed to give Tabs3 users special, low processing fees, so be sure to mention that you will integrate your merchant account with Tabs3 when you contact them.  When a credit card payment is entered into Tabs3, the transaction information is automatically sent to FNMS for processing. The funds are automatically deposited to any bank account that you choose, which means that there is no need to change your existing overall banking relationships.
