Software Technology, Inc., offers a letterhead scanning service to registered users of Tabs3 Billing Software. If you send us the letterhead you want scanned, we will produce a bitmap file that can be used to print your firm's letterhead onto Tabs3 statements.

This service costs $50.00 for firms who are on maintenance and $75.00 for firms not on a maintenance plan (orders will be returned via e-mail). Nebraska residents please add appropriate city and state sales tax.

Statement Designer Note: As an alternative to having your letterhead scanned, Version 12 and higher users can use the new Statement Designer. The Statement Designer program allows you to create your own letterhead using any fonts and graphics on your system. Additionally, if your area code, address, or firm name changes, you can easily change your letterhead without having to order another bitmap file. Sample Statement Designer page layouts are provided with Tabs3 Version 12 and higher. Knowledge Base article R10901, "Customizing the Sample Page Layouts Provided with the Tabs3 Statement Designer", provides examples and shows you how easy it is to create your own letterhead.

Tips for getting the best results:

  • A printer with a resolution of 600 dpi (dots per inch) or higher will provide the best results when printing letterhead bitmaps on billing statements.
  • Full page letterheads or color letterheads will create larger bitmap files, which may take longer for a printer to process.
  • For best results, letterhead should be printed in black ink using the highest resolution available. Photocopied letterhead or letterhead printed on an inkjet printer generally will not yield the best results. A faxed letterhead is not acceptable for scanning purposes.
  • If you fold your letterhead for mailing, make sure that the area to be scanned is not folded.
  • You may indicate areas on the letterhead to be deleted or moved. However, make sure a clean copy of the letterhead is also provided.
  • Additional information that is not already printed on the letterhead cannot by added to the bitmap.

Possible extra charges:

If a scan will result in an extra charge, you will be contacted by us for approval before your scanning order is processed.

  • Open face fonts do not scan well because some of the open areas get filled in when scanned. We can adjust the artwork by filling in the remaining areas, but there will be an extra charge to do so. For example:

  • Character point sizes less than 10 points may not print as cleanly as the original. Smaller type sizes may require cleanup resulting in an extra charge.
  • Lines that are very close together may scan as one solid line and may require cleanup that results in an extra charge. For example:

  • Graphics such as logos or colored text may require cleanup that results in an extra charge.

We will send you one 1200 dpi image file and one 600 dpi image file. A 300 dpi file can also be included if you request it.
