========================= MKLDGDET.EXE Instructions ========================= MKLDGDET.EXE is a utility program that can be used instead of the Tabs3 Version 9 Rebuild Client Ledger Detail program with the "Apply Detail Only" option. You should only use this program if an Tabs3 Technical Support Representative has instructed you to do so. Print this document if you have been instructed to run this program. Caution: DO NOT run this program unless you have been instructed to do so because this program can cause data loss. 1. Download the MKLDGDET.EXE program into your Tabs3 program directory. 2. If you previously ran the Rebuild Client Ledger Detail program and it didn't finish, you must restore from the backup that was made prior to running the rebuild program. If you don't have a backup, call Tabs3 Technical Support immediately at (402) 423-1440. DO NOT proceed until you have contacted Technical Support. 3. Delete the T3LEDGER.BAK and T3PYMALC.BAK files in your Tabs3 current working directory. 4. Run the Data File Integrity Check program. Proceed only if there are no errors. 5. Run the Archive Data Integrity Check program. Proceed only if there are no errors. 6. Close Tabs3. Have all users exit Tabs3. It is extremely important that no other users are using Tabs3 while running this program. THEY MUST WAIT until after this program has completed. There is no mechanism in place to prevent users from starting Tabs3 so it is important that you do this manually. Otherwise, you will have to restore from a backup and start this process over. 7. Be aware that this program is very disk I/O intensive and could take a long time to run--possibly hours-- depending on the amount of data and the speed of your hardware. If running on a Windows network, we recommend running this program from the file server. We also recommend running this program when there is low network traffic. 8. To run the MKLDGDET.EXE program, click the Start button, and then click Run.... Click the Browse button to navigate to the directory where Tabs3 is installed. Select the MKLDGDET.EXE program and click Open. Click OK from the Run dialog to start the program. 9. Follow the on-screen instructions to create new Tabs3 Ledger Detail files. If a message is displayed indicating you already have a Ledger Detail file, click Yes to continue. 10. This program copies the ledger and payment allocation files to *.BAK files. Copying the files may take some time--particularly when the files are large and the program is being run over a network. This may be deceiving because the program does not show any visual feedback until after the preliminary copying of files has completed. Do not abort the program! NOTE: If the program has not completed by the end of the workday, make sure any backup procedures do not come on while the program is running. 11. Upon completion, the message "Program Finished" will be displayed and the number of Ledger Detail Records created will be displayed. Click OK to close the program. 12. Delete the MKLDGDET.EXE program from the Tabs3 directory so it won't accidentally be run again.
